As promised, here is a link to my website. I recently updated it with both the room and character models I've had on my blog recently.

Room Model: Complete

Well, it's done. Fully modeled and textured. Unfortunately, texturing is a weak point of mine, so those didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped. I was pleased with the models however, all things considered. Below are two render videos of the model. One textured, the other without. As for the link to my website: I forgot that class started today so I'll be busy with that. However, I should have it all up on my website sometime tomorrow; hopefully by mid-afternoon.

Room Model: Pre-Unwrap

Hey everybody, this is a model I'm currently working on. The render below is one that I rendered a few weeks ago. So in short, a lot has changed. Currently, the project is completely modeled and I only have one more thing left to unwrap and then I can start texturing. My goal is to have this completely done and on my website by Monday of next week. I'll post a link to my website next Monday as well so you can check it out.

D&D Modeling Project - Week 10

Well, it's the last week of the term and the character and process book is done. It's been a good learning experience and although I like the concept of the character, I'll probably start working on a different character soon instead of improving this one. I would have liked to upload a PDF of the process book for you guys to look at, but it seems this website doesn't allow for that. I'll have to figure out how to put it up on my website. I'm no web designer but I'll figure it out.

Well, thanks for reading my blogs (the few of you that actually did). Keep checking back because I'll be updating this blog with current projects I'm working on.

D&D Modeling Project - Week 9

Well, the term is coming to a close. Next week is the last week. Thankfully I'm ahead of schedule. My model is finished and I've created a turntable animation for him that I've included below. Next week I'll try to put up my process book for you guys to look at. Don't worry internet, this isn't goodbye. I'm still going to keep blogging and keep you informed as to new projects I'm working on. So keep checking back, everyone!

D&D Modeling Project - Week 8

The end is in sight! The character is fully rigged and I've begun to texture him. However, although he is fully rigged, I have not yet posed him. I'll save that for when he's done being textured. As of now, his body is almost fully textured. Just two weeks left and I think I'm in good shape. It's pretty exciting how it's all coming together. Keep checking back everyone!

D&D Modeling Project - Week 7

I think I mentioned earlier that I had never worked with ZBrush before. Most of this week consisted of me learning how to use it and experimenting with it and I've just started on the Zbrush model for my character. It should be done before the end of next week. I'd like to have started on the texture by that time as well, so I will keep you guys posted.

D&D Modeling Project - Week 6

Alright, my model is almost done. From here I have to start adding more detail and refining him. I have 3 days until the modeling portion is due. After that, I'm going to unwrap him, bring him into ZBrush and then texture him. So far I'm fairly pleased with how the project has been going. To be honest, I didn't think I would be good at modeling characters at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm no character modeler, but it certainly turned out better than I expected.

Well, next Saturday I should be posting again and by that time I should at least have the character unwrapped. If I'm lucky, I may have had time to get him into ZBrush and have some screen captures for you guys to look at. Stay tuned!

D&D Modeling Project - Week 5

Well, I've made good progress on the body so far. Below is a screen-cap of what I did yesterday. In the beginning stages, I know. However, I think it's coming along nicely.
Any feedback anyone could give would be awesome. Also, as soon as I'm done modeling this I will be taking it into ZBrush to add some finer detail into his armor and skin and stuff like that. I'm really excited about how this is turning out.

D&D Modeling Project - Week 4

Alright, Week 4! Technically, I've started on the head for the character, but not the body. However, the body will be begun this week. So in the meantime, here's a shot of the head so far...

I'm currently working on making his facial features more angular (you know, because he's an elf and all). Any suggestions? I'd love any feedback I can get. See you next week! Keep checking back!

D&D Modeling Project - Week 3

Well it's week three and pretty much all of the research portion has been completed. I've done up a few sketches for the character. The ones I've done so far are in the beginning stages in terms of what I want the character to look like. Obviously there will be some tweaking down the road once I get a feel for the character. Unfortunately, I don't have any digital sketches at the moment, but I'm hoping to scan the sketches I do have on to the computer at the beginning of next week. So, although I don't have any visuals for this week, the sketches I have right now should make it in to next week's blog. Stay tuned, everyone!

D&D Modeling Project - Week 2

Week two has been primarily research and practice. I have never done a character model before, so this is all new. I'm working on two practice models at the moment to get the hang of it and I am also finding lots of reference material for when I do finally begin the actual model, which should be soon.thethingsiwant.com/site/realmcollections.com/

Most of my recent reference has been clothes reference. These, among other images, are helping me form a mental picture of what my character will look like.

D&D Modeling Project - Week 1

This is my first post, so let me start by introducing myself: The names Eric and I'm currently a student at IADT studying Game Design. This current project is for my Character Modeling class. The theme for the project is Dungeons & Dragons, so I've decided to model a Drow. Looking around the internet I didn't find a whole lot of reference images to help me out in deciding how the character will look. However, I did find a few...

This guy's armor that he's got on is pretty inspiring. As far as clothing for the character goes, this is a nice reference image. At the moment, I'm undecided as to whether I'm going to model the character in armor similar to this or in lighter clothing that would be more practical and doesn't restrict movement as much. He is an elf-type race after all and they're known for their swift and acrobatic movements.http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/21989741/Dragon_382_-_Winning_Races:_Drow

This image I found on wizards.com and is also interesing. I'll continue to search for more reference and do a couple sketches before I ultimately decide what the character will look like.
